Nanette Drisi has been a student of her husband Mohamed Drisi, a renowned portrait artist for more than 50 years. She is a graduate of The Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago. She has a masters from Governors State University in Illinois. After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago Nanette continued her studies in portraiture from Mohamed Drisi at Drisi Studio of Fine Art. She still studies with Mohamed, her husband and partner.
Her award winning paintings have a diversity ranging from imaginative surrealism to contemporary oil portraits, in a painting style characterized by a rich use of color and fine attention to detail. Emphasis is placed on technical competence rather than on momentary trends.
Her portraits of Dr. Leo Goodman-Malamuth and Senator Aldo DeAngelis were commissioned by Governors State University for their cultural center. She has exhibited extensively in other cultural facilities like The Art Institute of Chicago, The Chicago Society of Artists, The Beverly Art Center of Chicato and The Northern Indiana Cultural Center.
She is co-founder of the Professional Artist Alliance and co-owner of The Drisi Studio of Fine Art. She has been secretary of The Municipal Art League of Chicago, one of the founders of Oil Painters of America and is an associate member of The Allied Artists of America.
